Mr R. N. Naresh Kumar and Ms. Gayathree K attended the 3rd International Conference in Angiogenesis: Techniques and Therapeutics held at Sastra University, Thanjavur on 23rd and 24th September 2015. Ms. Gayathree received the Best Poster Award for “Hyperglycemia induces early growth response-1 (EGR1) in human diabetic retina mediating abnormal vascular changes in diabetic retinopathy” and Mr R. N. Naresh Kumar’s paper entitled “Lysyl oxidase propeptide (LOX-PP) inhibits VEGF mediated angiogenesis by down-regulating FAK signalling” was selected for oral presentation under the Young scientist category and he received a shield.
Ms. M. K. Janani & Ms. M. Vimalin Jayalatha participated in the IAMM Conference in Clinical Microbiology ARISE – 2015 held at SRM University, Chennai, on the 28th September 2015. The highly prestigious “The Week-Nielsen” survey declared Sankara Nethralaya as the “Best Hospital in Ophthalmology” once again. The survey was conducted on stringent quality measures by experts, covering 15 cities from September to October 2014.

Sankara Nethralaya - Elite School of Optometry (ESO) received the Limca National Record on 15.04.2014. ESO set a Limca record on World Sight Day - 8th October, 2012. The most number of vision screenings for 8,469 school children was conducted by ESO in 38 different schools between 8.30am to 4.30pm. The screening was done as a three-phased protocol including diagnosing refractive errors, prescription generation and diagnosis if eye ailments.
Dr. H. N. Madhavan recognized as the “PIONEER MOLECULAR MICROBIOLOGIST IN INDIA” for the detection of infection agents in the clinical specimens by the Centre for Disease Control (CDC), Atlanta, USA.
