CentralResearch Instrumentation Facilityalso called as Corelabhouses specialized high end equipment for common usage of scientists, scholars and students at Vision Research foundation. Ensuring the availability of various sophisticated instruments to the researchers and providing quality research solutions for the development of high standards towards Ophthalmic Research is the thriving aim of this Facility in accordance with the mission of the Organization.
The purpose of Core laboratory is to provide organized infrastructurewith high end technology, expensive instrumentation that cannot readily be accomplished in an individual laboratory. Not restricted to this the facility also helps in
Personnel employed in the core laboratory are equipped withscientific and multidisciplinary expertise, to guide the researchers, in choosing the best technologies and help them design their experiments efficiently, processing the samples and data analysis. Hands-on training is also facilitated to the students so that they may use the instruments independently.
A wide spectrum of research ideas integrated with the excellent facilities atcore lab, interactive Scientists, supporting scholars, healthy and competitive atmosphere provides an excellent platform for vigorous research, and makes VRF a successful ophthalmic research organization.

In our lab we focus on the identification of genetic determinants associated with ocular drug induced side-effects. We use powerful whole-genome next generation sequencing technology to identify the variants or the mutations that cause adverse drug reaction. We implement the use of the identified variants as biomarkers in the clinical setting to reduce the burden of adverse drug reactions.
